The initiative is promoted by the Temporary Association of Purpose consisting of Societ\u00e0 Agricola Feudo Art\u00f9 Srl, Societ\u00e0 Agricola Donna Contessa Srl, Azienda Agricola Vivano Luigia, Azienda Agricola Pugliesi Camillo, Per le Uve Srl and AGER soc. cop, with technical coordination and innovation support activities managed by Dr. Galfano Antonino, innovation broker.<\/p>\n<p>The objectives of the<span> <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sifivite.it\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>S.I.F.I.VITE project<\/strong><\/a><span> <\/span>were to develop and test<span> <\/span><strong>innovative techniques for more sustainable vineyard management and winery operations<\/strong><span> <\/span>in order to reduce environmental impact and optimize the use of natural and energy resources while improving the quality of the final product. S.I.F.I.VITE adopted an integrated approach, based on forecasting tools, constant monitoring and innovative practices such as the use of <span> <\/span><strong>detection programs like 4Grapes<\/strong><span> <\/span>which allows data collection, field surveys and monitoring of areas identified as most sensitive to interventions. Additionally, alternative defense techniques were tested, among which one of the most advanced innovations tested was the <strong>use of machinery that<span> <\/span><\/strong><strong>allowed control of fungal attacks through exposure of the vine to UV-C rays<\/strong>, an experimental technique that showed good results over two years of trials for controlling vine powdery mildew, while for downy mildew the results obtained in disease prevention are still being evaluated. Exposure to UV-C light radiation, repeated at least three times, on average every ten days, induced increased vine tolerance and reduced the inoculum of this cryptogamic disease. The targeted use of these practices allows for a significant reduction in chemical treatments, contributing to safer, healthier and more sustainable viticulture.  <\/p>\n<p>Field trials, conducted in different phenological phases, are allowing the construction of an operational protocol calibrated based on climatic and varietal conditions that will enable better use of these innovative tools made available to viticulture.<\/p>\n<p>Another aspect investigated with particular attention was<span> <\/span><strong>precision viticulture through monitoring and localized interventions with drones<\/strong>. The project also integrated precision agriculture technologies, particularly through the use of drones that allow for <span> <\/span><strong>targeted variable-rate fertilization interventions<\/strong>, with consequent optimization of consumption and reduction of environmental impact. Furthermore, the use of drones increases <span> <\/span><strong>traceability of agronomic practices<\/strong>, benefiting transparency and quality certification.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding<span> <\/span><strong>winery activities<\/strong><span> <\/span>the project experiments with energy efficiency through horizontal probe geothermal systems, which has enabled the application of<span> <\/span><strong>low-enthalpy geothermal systems<\/strong>, with horizontal probes, for natural thermal control of winemaking and aging environments. This technology uses the thermal stability of the soil to provide summer cooling and winter heating, reducing energy requirements and CO\u2082 emissions. The analyses conducted so far demonstrate that geothermal energy, if properly sized and integrated with existing systems, represents an economically sustainable solution compatible with the operational needs of small and medium-sized wine companies.  <\/p>\n<p>Another aspect of particular importance evaluated with the S.I.F.I.VITE project was<span> <\/span><strong>production of wines with low alcohol content and fewer sulfites<\/strong>. In response to the growing demand for lighter and healthier wines, S.I.F.I.VITE also promotes innovative practices for producing wines with lower alcohol content and reduced sulfite content. S.I.F.I.VITE is configured as a representative project of new Italian viticulture: sustainable, technologically advanced and future-oriented. <\/p>\n<p>Thanks to the synergy between agricultural enterprises, research centers and technical consultants, it was possible to test and validate concrete, replicable and scalable solutions, with benefits for the entire wine supply chain.
